Top Tips On Winter Maintenance
With the build up to Christmas well underway, here at Horton and Storey we wanted to share our thoughts on maintaining your property through the winter months to reduce the risk of costly repair works.
Boiler and heating systems – Have your boiler checked and serviced by a licensed contractor at least once a year, preferable before the heating season begins.
Insulation – Is your insulation prepared to protect you from the cold? It is worth taking time to inspect and upgrade insulation and weather stripping before the season starts.
External Pipework – Plummeting temperatures can be a danger to your home, especially your pipework. Make sure the water pipework is adequately insulated. If you’re going away over Christmas, it may be worth turning your water off whilst you are away.
Garden and exterior – Trees and falling branches can damage your property in adverse weather conditions. Make sure these are trimmed back and no slip hazards with leaves on the ground.
Also, now is the time to get those gutters cleaned. But remember not to place yourself at risk and get a qualified and insured contractor to work at height.
